​​MASHUP® Certification Course Outline

Name of Program: MASHUP®

Program Description:
Upon completion of this 9-hour course, the instructor/personal trainer will be eligible to coach MASHUP® wherever they choose. VIIT is the New HIIT! MASHUP® is the first established Variable- intensity Interval Training (VIIT) group fitness program in the industry offering MindBody, Agility & Strength and High-intensity Intervals specifically designed for three fitness levels in every workout. VIIT is a research-based circuit training concept in which you rotate between very intense anaerobic periods (HIIT) with medium-intensity (Agility & Strength) and low-intensity (MindBody) active recovery periods for a shorter, more effective workout. It does not require a club/gym license. The program design and fundamentals are necessary to successfully complete and succeed in the fitness industry as a Certified MASHUP® Coach.
The course includes an introduction to the development and background of
MASHUP®, a class demonstration, the science and benefits of Variable-intensity Interval Training (VIIT), sample exercises pertaining to Mind/Body (Yoga/Pilates), Agility & Strength, and High-intensity Intervals, practicum of combining all three modalities into three format sequences, explanation and/or execution of all fitness levels for safety, equipment/music considerations, business integrity, written examination, video examination, and post-workshop conference lecture.

Pre-requisites:
Current BLS/CPR, Current Group Fitness or
Personal Training certification, a specialty certification or a degree in a related area (Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, etc.)

Course Includes:
  1. One intensive full-day live workshop (9hrs) with lecture, practicum and a written exam followed by individual post workshop video submission
  2. Reference manual with several hundred sample exercises to implement within the three modalities and sample workouts
  3. Three high-energy playlists required to use for each of the three formats with coaching commands embedded from start to finish
  4. Three whiteboard templates with suction cups required to utilize during class
  5. .7 ACE, 11 AFAA, and 1.1 NASM CECs
  6. Early registration $219, Late registration $299, Fitness Conferences may be discounted more
  7. Coach discounts are available on apparel or products.
  8. Additional new monthly playlists, sample workouts and sample videos are accessible via the MASHUP® Coach Connect app. It is $12.50/month or save $60 with an annual membership ($7.50/mo.). Only members are eligible for MASHUP® app referral bonus program.
  9. A free T-shirt/tank top or hat

Recommended Proficiencies
Instructors and Personal Trainers wishing to enroll in this certification workshop must possess a positive and professional image; have effective communication skills and a desire to help individuals achieve optimal wellness􏰁

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify and relate science and benefits of delivering a Variable-intensity Interval Training program that combines MindBody, Agility & Strength and High-intensity Intervals for three levels in every class.
  2. Accurately identify and apply exercises as appropriate to each modality.
  3. Identify and assess participant’s health conditions and fitness levels.
  4. Learn and implement the MASHUP® formats safely and effectively.
  5. Learn equipment considerations.
  6. Understand basic tenets of health and the coaches’ role in promotion of optimal wellness of participants.
  7. Comply with MASHUP® business integrity.
  8. Utilize MASHUP® resources appropriately as needed.
