HIIT Decreases Cold and Flu

Let’s face it. We all hate to be sick and nobody has time for it.  Wouldn’t it be great if you could increase your immunity and decrease your chances of the next flu bug or cold?  Well you can…and look and feel great as an added benefit!  New research is finding that vigorous exercise such as HITT intervals can help stave off the viruses and increase your immunity for common illness.

The Research

The Flusurvey done in the U.K. was an online survey with over 4,800 participants conducted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  The survey found that participants who exercised vigorously for at least 2.5 hours per week reduced their risk of developing flu-like illness by 10%!  Participants who exercised at a moderate pace had no change in their risk for illness.  Additional studies show that active people are less likely to get colds and recover more quickly from existing ones.
