Don’t “Waste” Time Just Stretching!

Everyone has a jam-packed schedule. Who has time to waste? No one! That is why you must catch on to this fitness secret that will keep you limber and relaxed as well as toned and tightened in a small amount of time so that you can always fit it into your busy schedule.   If you’re a workout guru, you probably already know that long stretching routines are no longer recommended and can even make you feel more tired during your workout. However, if you are over 30 or you are doing strength training and high intensity interval (HIIT) routines, you know you really cannot get by without maintaining your flexibility to prevent injury. So why not maximize your time and also get a great core strengthening and toning workout while you limber up?

This is just one of the many benefits to adding mind-body exercises into the middle or end of your workout. Here is a quick and effective mind-body workout that you can insert into the middle or end of your workout routine that will tone you up while you recover and stretch.

5 min. Mind-Body Stretch and Strengthen

Do each exercise for 1 minute.

1)    Scissors (lay on your back with your torso up and alternate straight legs to your chest)

2)    Criss-Cross Legs On the Back (lay on your back and extend your legs out to the side and cross at top)

3)    Windmill Arms Sitting (arms straight to side twist your torso reaching each arm behind you as you twist)

4)    Upward Plank Lifts (start sitting upright with your legs straight in front of you and hands by your hips and then lift and lower the hips)

5)    Down Dog to Plank
